Roles & Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate perioperative and surgical services to ensure safe, efficient patient care.
Supervise and mentor circulating RNs and perioperative staff, promoting teamwork and professional development.
Respond calmly and decisively to clinical emergencies and unexpected events in the surgical suite.
Assess departmental workflows, identify problems, and implement short-term fixes and long-term improvements.
Delegate tasks effectively to maintain operational standards and high-quality patient outcomes.
Collaborate with physicians, ancillary departments, and administration to optimize patient flow and resources.
Oversee patient care activities in the surgical setting, ensuring compliance with policies, safety, and infection control standards.

Qualifications

Current California RN license (required)
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (required)
Minimum 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required)
CNOR preferred
One year Post Anesthesia Care (PACU) experience preferred
Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (required)
Strong written and oral English skills
Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience preferred

Education

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (required)
CNOR preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Perioperative nursing and circulating RN expertise
Surgical services management and team leadership
Ability to remain composed and lead during true emergencies
Strong problem identification and resolution skills with both short- and long-term planning
Effective delegation and operational oversight
Hands-on patient care awareness and ability to collaborate across disciplines
Ability to meet physical demands of the role (sitting/standing up to 4+ hours, lifting up to 35 lbs)
