Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients comprehensively using evidence-based techniques to identify needs and risks
• Develop individualized plans of care and set meaningful, culturally appropriate outcomes
• Implement nursing interventions safely and document care and any plan modifications
• Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed for best outcomes
• Provide education and support to patients and families about healthy lifestyles and postpartum care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate seamless, compassionate care
• Supervise and delegate to subordinate personnel while maintaining accountability
• Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance nursing practice and patient safety
• Float to Mother-Baby (couplets), PACU and triage as staffing needs require

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (Montana or Compact) required
• NRP certification required
• BLS (AHA) required
• ACLS (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery RN experience or PACU experience
• Comfortable supervising, delegating and functioning in fast-paced unit-based roles
• Willingness to float to Mother-Baby, work couplets and support PACU/triage as needed

Education

• Active Registered Nurse license (Montana or Compact)

• Strong patient assessment and nursing process skills (assessment, diagnosis, plan, implementation, evaluation)
• Experience with evidence-based interventions and thorough documentation
• Care planning, coordination and continuity of care across the patient journey
• Cultural competence and ability to provide age-appropriate, family-centered care
• Quality improvement mindset and ability to participate in data-driven practice changes
• Effective communication and teamwork with patients, families and healthcare colleagues
