Roles & Responsibilities

• Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment to the highest infection-control standards
• Operate sterilization machines such as autoclaves safely and efficiently
• Inspect instruments for damage or defects and remove nonconforming items from service
• Assemble instrument trays and packs accurately according to procedure and surgeon preference
• Maintain accurate sterilization and process records for compliance and traceability
• Follow safety and infection control protocols to protect patients and staff
• Collaborate with perioperative and central sterile teams to ensure timely instrument availability

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Sterile processing certification (CRCST, CBSPD, or equivalent) preferred
• Prior experience in sterile processing or central sterile services is a strong plus
• Familiarity with autoclave operation and sterilization monitoring is highly desirable
• Strong attention to detail, good manual dexterity, and commitment to safety protocols
• Ability to stand for extended periods and handle instrument trays as needed
• Positive communication skills and the ability to work well within a clinical team

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Sterile processing certification (CRCST, CBSPD) preferred
