Roles & Responsibilities
- Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment to the highest infection-control standards
- Operate sterilization machines such as autoclaves safely and efficiently
- Inspect instruments for damage or defects and remove nonconforming items from service
- Assemble instrument trays and packs accurately according to procedure and surgeon preference
- Maintain accurate sterilization and process records for compliance and traceability
- Follow safety and infection control protocols to protect patients and staff
- Collaborate with perioperative and central sterile teams to ensure timely instrument availability
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Sterile processing certification (CRCST, CBSPD, or equivalent) preferred
- Prior experience in sterile processing or central sterile services is a strong plus
- Familiarity with autoclave operation and sterilization monitoring is highly desirable
- Strong attention to detail, good manual dexterity, and commitment to safety protocols
- Ability to stand for extended periods and handle instrument trays as needed
- Positive communication skills and the ability to work well within a clinical team
Education
- High school diploma or GED required
- Sterile processing certification (CRCST, CBSPD) preferred

- Sterile processing and instrument sterilization best practices
- Autoclave operation and sterilization cycle monitoring
- Surgical instrument decontamination and inspection techniques
- Instrument tray assembly and sterile packaging procedures
- Sterilization record keeping and documentation
