Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to geriatric residents, focusing on dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
- Support safe and respectful mealtime assistance and nutritional needs
- Document care activities accurately and maintain clear communication with the care team
- Foster positive relationships with residents and their families to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and patients with complex needs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to work per diem shifts and adapt to varying schedules
- Background check and any facility-required screenings must be cleared
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident dignity
- Safe patient handling and basic mobility assistance techniques
- Basic infection control and hygiene practices
- Accurate documentation and charting skills
- Ability to follow care plans and verbal/written instructions
- Compassion, patience, and strong observational skills
