Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, assisting with daily living activities
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and safe positioning to promote independence
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to the nursing team
- Support mealtimes and feeding needs while encouraging dignity and autonomy
- Maintain clear, timely documentation of care and observations
- Collaborate respectfully with nurses, therapists, and family members to enhance resident well-being
- Contribute to a safe, clean environment by following infection control and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (required)
- Active state-required documentation and any facility-specific credentials
- Comfortable working with older adults and a desire to provide dignified, respectful care
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow care plans
- Background checks and immunizations as required by the facility
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Practical knowledge of personal care techniques for geriatric residents
- Ability to safely assist with transfers and mobility
- Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
- Good teamwork, communication, and documentation abilities
- Compassion, patience, and a respectful approach to resident-centered care
