Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert telemetry monitoring and high-quality nursing care to general surgery and urology patients
• Safely manage an assignment of 6–7 patients depending on shift needs while maintaining clinical excellence
• Administer and titrate IV therapies including antibiotics, heparin drips, and TPN with attention to detail
• Perform and manage procedures such as wound vac care, NG tube management, tube feeds, ostomy care, and drain management
• Use Cerner EMR to document care accurately and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Collaborate with charge nurses, providers, CNAs and unit staff to ensure smooth, patient-centered care
• Prioritize patient safety, respond to telemetry changes, and escalate concerns promptly

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state of practice or compact licensure where applicable)
• Telemetry competency (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (telemetry/med-surg preferred)
• Experience with wound vacs, TPN, PCA pumps, Baxter IV pumps, NG tubes, urinary catheters, and ostomy care
• Comfort managing moderate acuity surgical and urology patients and multiple post-op scenarios
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Med-surg and post-operative nursing care (general surgery focus)
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR for documentation and orders
• Competence with PCA, wound vacs, Baxter IV pumps, and enteral/NG tube management
• Ability to manage drains, ostomies, colostomies and urostomies
• Medication administration including IV antibiotics, heparin drips, and TPN troubleshooting
• Efficient prioritization and delegation in a fast-paced environment
