Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert Level 3 NICU nursing care for preterm and critically ill neonates, including high-acuity preemies and infants with sepsis or respiratory compromise
• Manage complex ventilator needs using high-frequency vents, Draeger systems and NAVA where applicable
• Administer and manage IV therapy and TPN safely and accurately, demonstrating strong IV skills
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using Phillips monitors and escalate to NNP/MD when needed
• Float to Pediatrics and Postpartum when assigned and provide couplet care in Postpartum as required
• Document thoroughly in Cerner and use the breast milk bridge scanning workflow and HUGS security processes
• Collaborate closely with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, neonatologists and nurse practitioners to optimize patient outcomes
• Complete all required MyJourney modules and unit-specific orientation prior to or at the start of the assignment

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of California (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (neonatal experience preferred)
• Required certifications: BLS, NRP, PALS
• Demonstrated Cerner EMR experience (required)
• Strong IV/TPN skills and comfort with a high volume of IV management
• Comfort floating to Pediatrics and Postpartum and providing couplet care
• Ability to work nights, every-other-weekend and scheduled holidays as part of the assignment
• Willingness to complete all MyJourney modules prior to arrival

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• BSN not required for this role

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth neonatal nursing knowledge for Level 3 NICU care (22 weeks to term)
• Ventilator management familiarity: high-frequency ventilation, Draeger systems, NAVA and nitric oxide knowledge
• Experience with Medfusion and Alaris syringe pumps and Phillips telemetry monitoring
• Ability to interpret basic arrhythmias and collaborate with NNP/MD for confirmation
• Competence with IV therapy, TPN workflows and managing large IV volumes
• Familiarity with NICU workflows including delivery attendance support and working with surrogates
• Comfort with Cerner, breast milk bridge scanning, and HUGS security systems
