Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care for orthopedic surgery patients before, during, and after procedures
- Perform thorough assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and in a timely manner
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care, mobility, pain management, and discharge planning
- Document patient care clearly and promptly in the medical record to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient care
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) — you bring the nursing knowledge and clinical focus
- 2+ years of nursing experience, with emphasis or experience in orthopedic surgery preferred
- Comfort and competence caring for post-op orthopedic patients and working in a surgical/acute care environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of orthopedic surgical patient care, including post-op mobility and pain management
- Skill in patient assessment, wound monitoring, and timely recognition of complications
- Ability to educate patients and families in an approachable, supportive way
- Good clinical judgment, time management, and teamwork abilities
