Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Wednesday-Sunday (Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun), 1:45 PM - 10:15 PM Day shift (30-minute meal)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $63 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, direct patient care to the medical unit population
Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately
Monitor, assess and document patient status and progress clearly
Collaborate with nurses, providers and custody staff to coordinate care
Maintain accurate medical records and follow facility protocols
Support a safe, secure environment appropriate for a correctional healthcare setting
Participate in orientation and ongoing training to keep skills sharp

Qualifications

Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license — California required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or able to obtain upon hire
Comfortable working in a correctional healthcare environment or similar medical setting
Strong clinical judgment, documentation skills and ability to work independently
Professional communication skills and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams

Education

Vocational Nursing diploma, certificate or equivalent completed

Knowledge & Skills

Patient assessment and basic nursing care
Medication administration and documentation
Wound care and IV site observation fundamentals
Electronic medical record charting and care planning
Infection control practices and standard precautions
Ability to follow protocols in a secure facility environment
