Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patient function using formal and informal measures across developmental, cognitive, neurologic, respiratory, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal domains
- Develop individualized, goal-specific treatment plans and adjust them based on patient progress and tolerance
- Submit written treatment regimes to be included in the authorized plan of treatment and update plans of care to reflect changes
- Coordinate treatment frequency and duration with patients, families, and clinical support staff
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers about diagnosis, prognosis, treatment rationale, and home strategies
- Provide supervision and mentorship for Occupational Therapist Assistants, Home Health Aides, and students per regulatory standards
- Co-sign verbal orders from occupational therapist assistants when appropriate and ensure documentation accuracy
Qualifications
- Active Michigan Occupational Therapist license (LARA must show Active) — required
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification — required
- Occupational therapy experience — required (OT experience documented)
- Pediatric experience — required
- Experience in outpatient settings; some acute-care or home health experience a plus
- Ability to supervise OT assistants/aides and complete supervisory documentation
- Profile items required at submission: work history, skills checklist (current to 1 year), and 2 supervisory reference forms completed within the last two years
- Candidates must provide permanent address; facility will not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius
- All scheduling requests must be provided at time of submission (changes after offer may cause offer rescission)
Knowledge & Skills
- Assessment, treatment planning, intervention, and evaluation per OT standards
- Treatment plan development and plan of care documentation
- Patient and family education with clear, compassionate instruction
- Supervision and leadership of OTAs, aides, and students
- Comfort across outpatient care with some acute-care/home health crossover
- Skilled in writing measurable goals and updating plans based on progress
