Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret rhythm changes to keep patients safe
- Deliver focused post-open heart care, including titration and management of cardiac drips
- Provide skilled bedside assessments and intervene quickly when the clinical picture changes
- Collaborate with surgical cardiology teams, physicians, and allied staff to coordinate patient care
- Document care accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record
- Participate in unit competency testing and skills checklists to maintain excellence
Qualifications
- Active RN license with verification required (state license/certificate verification)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (both required)
- Experience caring for post-open heart patients and managing cardiac drips preferred
- Successful completion of Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
- Ability to pass required health screenings: fit test, immunizations, 10-panel drug screen, and related occupational health requirements
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and arrhythmia recognition
- Post-operative cardiac nursing and surgical cardiology familiarity
- Managing and titrating cardiac vasoactive drips and IV infusions
- Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and critical thinking
- Proficient documentation and communication with multidisciplinary teams
- Comfortable with specialty-specific competency protocols and checklist-driven care
