Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts (3x12): Day shifts 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; Night shifts 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM. Typically 3 shifts per week (e.g., 3 on/4 off), includes weekends with a minimum of 5 weekend shifts per contract. Variable schedule with required float to other UCSF facilities.
Hours per Week: 60
Candidate Pay Rate: $69 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity pediatric critical care for neonates through adolescents, managing complex medical and surgical conditions
- Manage ventilated patients and advanced respiratory support including HFOV, BiPAP/CPAP, and high-flow systems
- Perform invasive line care and monitoring including central lines, arterial lines, PICC lines and CVP monitoring
- Monitor and manage neurologic devices and conditions such as EVDs, ICP monitoring and post-neurosurgery care
- Deliver and monitor continuous sedation and procedural sedation safely, including pediatric dosing and Broselow usage
- Administer and titrate vasoactive meds, manage CRRT/renal support therapies, and coordinate dialysis-related care
- Interpret telemetry and dysrhythmias, respond to emergencies and participate in rapid response/code situations
- Collaborate with families and the interdisciplinary team to provide compassionate, family-centered care and clear education
Qualifications
- Valid California RN license (required)
- AHA BLS and PALS (required)
- Minimum 2 years pediatric intensive care experience in a high-acuity PICU (tertiary/teaching hospital strongly preferred)
- CCRN certification preferred
- Comfort with Epic charting and willingness to float to other UCSF facilities
- Experience with ventilator management, invasive monitoring, and pediatric advanced life support
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and care of the ventilated pediatric patient
- Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) and dialysis-related care
- Hemodynamic monitoring, CVP and arterial line management
- ICP monitoring, EVD care and post-neurosurgical patient management
- Central line and PICC line care, blood product administration and IV therapy
- Telemetry interpretation, dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Pediatric medication calculations, Broselow system, and procedural sedation monitoring
- Family-centered communication, multidisciplinary teamwork, and rapid response participation
