Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and manage patient care for neuro Med/Surg patients using keen clinical judgment
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and document thoroughly in Meditech
• Monitor telemetry and continuous pulse oximetry, respond quickly to changes in cardiac or respiratory status
• Perform wound care and maintain surgical drains, chest tubes, and nasogastric tubes with confidence
• Provide compassionate bedside shift report and include patients and families in care planning
• Prioritize tasks and multitask effectively to maintain patient ratios and unit flow
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate discharge planning and education
• Operate and troubleshoot unit equipment including IV pumps, feeding pumps, PCA, bladder scanner, and EKG machines

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
• Comfortable working 12-hour night shifts and participating in float rotations
• Proven IV insertion and medication administration skills
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and basic EKG interpretation
• Familiarity with electronic documentation (Meditech preferred)
• Strong patient prioritization, communication, and multitasking abilities

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making for Med/Surg populations
• Medication administration and IV therapy best practices
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Meditech documentation and electronic charting workflows
• Use of unit equipment: IV pumps, feeding pumps, PCA, bladder scanner, continuous pulse oximetry, SCDs
• Basic wound care and management of surgical drains, chest tubes, and NG tubes
• Effective bedside shift reporting and patient/family education
• Ability to triage, prioritize, and multitask in a fast-paced unit
