Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality cardiothoracic and vascular surgical care for adult inpatients and consults
• Perform required procedures including CABG, valvular repair/replacement, aneurysm repair, endarterectomy (carotid & renal), lung resections including VATS, and chest wall/pleural surgeries
• Manage ventilation and perform bronchoscopy when clinically indicated
• Evaluate and stabilize acute volume and blood pressure issues in hospitalized patients
• Document patient encounters and surgical care thoroughly using EPIC
• Collaborate with the on-site care team (ICU staff, mid-level providers, anesthesia, and ancillary services) to ensure seamless patient handoffs and continuity of care
• Participate in call coverage and sign-out processes to maintain patient safety during transfer of care

Qualifications

• MD or DO (or equivalent medical degree)
• Board certified or board eligible in cardiothoracic surgery and/or vascular surgery (or equivalent training)
• Experience with adult hospital-based surgical practice and on-call coverage
• Proficiency in EPIC for clinical documentation
• Current BLS and ACLS (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Ability to obtain an Ohio medical license and hospital privileges for the assignment

Education

• MD or DO (medical degree required)
• Fellowship training in cardiothoracic and/or vascular surgery preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Extensive operative skill in coronary artery bypass, valvular procedures, aneurysm repair, and endarterectomy
• Experience with thoracic procedures including lung resection and VATS
• Strong perioperative and critical care management skills, including ventilation management
• Skilled in bronchoscopy and management of complex cardiothoracic/vascular inpatient issues
• Comfortable with hospital-based practice workflows and urgent consults
• Clear, timely EPIC documentation and effective interdisciplinary communication
