Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to geriatric residents, helping with bathing, dressing, grooming and mobility
• Assist with safe transfers and positioning to promote comfort and prevent injury
• Measure and document vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
• Support mealtime assistance and feeding when needed, ensuring dignity and nutritional needs are met
• Maintain clean, safe resident environments and follow infection prevention practices
• Engage residents with respectful conversation and activities that promote emotional well-being
• Accurately document care provided, observations, and any concerns in resident records
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support individualized care plans

Qualifications

• GNA or CNA certification (or in-state equivalent) — required or preferred per facility policy
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain promptly
• Comfortable working with geriatric residents, including those with mobility or cognitive challenges
• Ability to pass background/fingerprint checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; GNA/CNA certification preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Skill with safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Familiarity with documenting care and following care plans
• Ability to monitor and recognize changes in resident condition
• Good interpersonal skills and patience when working with seniors and families
• Basic infection control and hand hygiene practices
