Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming) with dignity and compassion
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Help with meal assistance and feeding while monitoring dietary needs and preferences
• Observe residents for changes in condition and report concerns promptly to nursing staff
• Maintain clear, timely documentation of care provided and resident observations
• Keep resident rooms and common areas clean, comfortable, and safe
• Build trusting, respectful relationships with residents and their families to enhance quality of life
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure person-centered care plans are followed

Qualifications

• GNA certification or equivalent (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or similar setting preferred
• Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings/immunizations
• Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered approach
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work the assigned shift

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Basic observational and vital-sign monitoring skills
• Infection control and standard precautions
• Basic charting and documentation practices
• Teamwork, time management, and conflict-resolution skills
• Empathy, patience, and excellent interpersonal skills
