Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility
- Monitor resident condition and report changes to nursing staff clearly and promptly
- Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
- Help create a warm, respectful environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and follow facility policies and procedures
- Collaborate with teammates to ensure continuity of care and a positive resident experience
Qualifications
- Valid Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (state-required credential)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Previous experience caring for older adults preferred; new grads with strong heart are welcome
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Strong communication skills and a patient, respectful bedside manner
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and mobility support
- Good observation skills and ability to report clinical changes
- Team-oriented attitude and the ability to follow care plans accurately
- Basic infection control and safety practice knowledge
