Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting) to support patient comfort and dignity
- Assist residents with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment
- Take and record vital signs, reporting any changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
- Document care accurately and timely in resident records to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and family members to deliver person-centered care plans
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control policies and safety procedures
- Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents' nutritional needs are met with dignity
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification — New Mexico CNA required
- Comfortable working 12.5-hour day shifts (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM) on a Monday-Wednesday schedule
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; compassionate, patient-focused approach
- Basic documentation skills and ability to follow care plans and policies
- CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Ability to pass required background checks and any facility screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Practical knowledge of ADLs (activities of daily living) and resident care
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safety protocols
- Basic vital sign measurement and reporting
- Good observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
- Teamwork and clear communication with clinical staff and families
- Comfort using electronic or paper charting systems for documentation
