Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical experience, from pre-op assessment through post-op evaluation
• Circulate across multiple specialties (Orthopedics, ENT, GYN/OB, General, Ophthalmology, Dental) to ensure safe, efficient procedures
• Maintain situational awareness and prepare for emergency cases on short notice while on call
• Perform and document nursing assessments, develop nursing diagnoses, implement care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes
• Scrub when appropriate and assist with instrument handling, sterile technique, and surgical workflow
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and the perioperative team to optimize patient safety and outcomes
• Keep certifications current and complete required trainings (NIHSS, CNOR, TNCC) within specified timeframes

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted RN license from any U.S. state, territory, or Puerto Rico
• Minimum two (2) years of clinical nursing and/or operating room practical experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (to be obtained within six months of hire if not current)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification to be completed within six months of hire
• Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) by CCI to be completed within one year of hire (or actively pursuing)
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) to be completed within two years of hire
• Ability and willingness to circulate and scrub across multiple surgical specialties and to work varied hours when on call

Education

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Perioperative nursing best practices and sterile technique
• Operating Room workflow, patient positioning, instrumentation, and safety protocols
• Experience circulating and scrubbing in surgical cases across specialties (Orthopedics, ENT, GYN/OB, Ophthalmology, Dental)
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical judgment skills
• Comfort with emergency case readiness and rapid response situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills with multidisciplinary clinical teams
• Familiarity with documentation standards and perioperative patient care pathways
