Roles & Responsibilities

• Collect and process clinical specimens (blood, urine, body fluids, fecal) accurately and compassionately
• Perform complex laboratory procedures and recognize deviations from expected results
• Analyze quality control data and take appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision
• Monitor instruments and review temperature logs to ensure reliability of results
• Evaluate and help implement new techniques and procedures, including writing or revising technical protocols
• Troubleshoot laboratory issues and apply scientific principles to correct problems
• Provide clear, professional explanations regarding test methodology, specificity and factors that influence results
• Maintain and demonstrate self-competency in required laboratory skills

Qualifications

• CLS or MT (ASCP) certification or equivalent
• New MT graduates must pass certification exam within 6 months of the employment start date
• Bachelor's degree preferred; Associates degree acceptable for grandfathered personnel
• Comfortable working night shifts and independently handling clinical lab responsibilities
• Strong attention to detail, sound judgment on QC, and effective communication skills

• Specimen collection and processing best practices
• Clinical laboratory procedures across departments
• Quality control analysis and corrective actions
• Instrument monitoring and basic maintenance
• Phlebotomy and specimen handling for all age ranges
• Test validation, methodology evaluation and establishment of reference intervals
• Laboratory troubleshooting and technical procedure documentation
• Ability to interpret and explain test sensitivity/specificity and influencing factors
