Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, family-centered nursing care to mothers and babies during antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods
• Assist physicians and midwives during examinations and procedures with confident clinical support
• Perform independent clinical practice tasks, triage and patient assessments in the OB setting
• Monitor fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring and respond to changes promptly
• Deliver neonatal care including initial stabilization and coordination with nursery services
• Follow physician orders, hospital policies, and nursing standards to ensure safe, high-quality care
• Support and educate patients and families, honoring cultural needs and preferences

Qualifications

• Valid, current, full and unrestricted Professional Nursing License to practice in any U.S. state, territory, or Puerto Rico
• Minimum 2 years OB nursing experience in antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, nursery and Labor & Delivery
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - American Heart Association
• AWHONN Intermediate EFM certification required within 6 months of hire
• AWHONN Advanced EFM certification required within 6 months of hire
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) completion required within 6 months of hire
• STABLE certification within 1 year of hire
• Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) within 1 year of hire
• Fingerprinting must be submitted and cleared prior to start
• Flexible to work days, evenings, nights and weekends

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong skills in electronic fetal monitoring and fetal assessment
• Neonatal stabilization and nursery care experience
• Ability to assist physicians and midwives during deliveries and procedures
• Excellent clinical judgment and ability to work independently
• Proficient documentation and adherence to hospital policies and standards
• Cultural sensitivity and effective communication when serving Navajo, Hopi and other local communities
• Team collaboration across multiple specialties in a referral center
