Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, supporting activities of daily living with dignity and respect
- Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility and meal assistance while promoting independence
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to licensed nursing staff promptly
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and resident interactions
- Support a safe environment by following infection control and safety procedures
- Collaborate with the care team to create a warm, home-like experience for each resident
Qualifications
- Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
- Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
- Comfortable working with older adults and addressing their unique care needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to partner with nurses and care staff
- Ability to follow care plans, complete documentation, and take direction from nursing leadership
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and dignity-centered support
- Skill assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, transfers)
- Basic resident observation and reporting skills
- Familiarity with infection control practices and safe patient handling
- Good interpersonal skills and a calm, patient-centered approach
