Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily care to residents, promoting dignity and comfort
- Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers following proper body mechanics
- Monitor and document residents’ conditions and report changes to nursing staff
- Help create a warm, engaging environment by participating in activities and social interaction
- Follow infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe resident environment
Qualifications
- Active GNA certification (required)
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility health requirements (vaccinations, TB screening, etc.)
- Comfort working with the geriatric population and sensitivity to their unique needs
- Reliable attendance and strong communication/teamwork skills
- Previous experience in long-term care or similar setting is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA program or state-equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
- Skilled in safe transfer techniques and personal care assistance
- Familiarity with charting and documentation best practices
- Good observational skills to notice changes in condition and report them promptly
- Strong interpersonal skills to connect with residents and families
