Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and efficient pharmaceutical distribution by interpreting physician drug orders and dispensing appropriate medications
• Review patient medical and pharmaceutical records to monitor therapy, interactions, adverse reactions, allergies, and contraindications
• Administer immunizations and document patient care accordingly
• Prepare, compound, dispense, and counsel patients on prescriptions and pharmacy-related products
• Communicate directly with prescribers and nursing staff regarding patient drug therapy questions and recommendations
• Monitor storage, distribution, and use of pharmaceuticals and maintain controlled substances records
• Document and report medication errors and work to improve medication safety
• Oversee prescription processing activities to ensure quality and compliance with standards
• Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and patient care quality
• Support and mentor pharmacy personnel to maintain high performance and professional practice

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy
• Active Pharmacist license in the state of Iowa
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
• Immunization certification (current or ability to obtain upon hire)
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with dispensing, compounding, medication therapy review, and controlled substance record-keeping
• Ability to maintain knowledge of State and Federal pharmacy regulations and practice accordingly

Education

• Graduate from an accredited school of pharmacy
