Roles & Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver exceptional patient care for primarily adult med/surg patients with occasional pediatrics
• Perform comprehensive assessments and implement the Nursing Process to guide clinical decisions
• Manage inpatient, outpatient, observation, and swing bed care with professionalism and compassion
• Collaborate closely with the Unit Director, Clinical Nurse Lead, and Nursing Supervisor to ensure continuity of care
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate to physicians and leadership as needed
• Accurately document patient care in the electronic record (Meditech familiarity preferred)
• Support unit efficiency by mentoring colleagues and contributing to a positive team culture
• Adhere to credentialing and vaccination requirements to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff

Qualifications

• Current Vermont RN license or multi-state RN licensure required
• Minimum 3 years of acute care experience
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• ACLS certification required
• Flu vaccination required with no exceptions
• Familiarity with Meditech is preferred
• Comfort providing occasional pediatric care; this is primarily an adult med/surg unit (no pediatric-only RNs)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong med/surg clinical skills and experience with adult acute care
• Patient care coordination and use of the Nursing Process for clinical decision making
• Experience with inpatient, outpatient, observation, and swing bed settings
• Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical leadership and multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency or willingness to learn Meditech electronic health record
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
• Commitment to holistic, patient-centered care that addresses physiological and psychosocial needs
