Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate post-anesthesia care to adult and geriatric patients, ensuring smooth, safe recoveries
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and vital signs, intervening promptly for dysrhythmias
• Perform airway assessments and manage oral/nasal airways as needed
• Initiate and maintain IV therapy, obtain phlebotomy samples, and access/manage ports
• Administer medications and complete medication reconciliation with careful documentation in Epic
• Deliver pre/post-operative assessments, education, and follow-up phone calls to promote continuity of care
• Support a 1:2 patient ratio, prioritizing safety, pain management, and individualized recovery plans
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, coordinating patient flow, staff assignments, and interdisciplinary communication

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Ohio (or compact state privileges where applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience with PACU or perioperative exposure
• Epic charting experience is required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Previous charge experience required; comfortable leading small teams and managing unit flow
• Travel experience preferred and traveler-friendly mindset required
• Flu vaccination required per facility policy; COVID-19 vaccination not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong PACU care skills including pre/post-op care and conscious sedation monitoring
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition/management
• Airway assessment and placement of oral/nasal airways
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and port access/management
• Ability to obtain and interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG
• Familiarity with malignant hyperthermia protocol and isolation precautions
• Comfort with a broad case mix: ENT, general surgery, GYN, ophthalmology, plastics, urology
• Proficient in Epic for accurate, timely documentation and medication reconciliation
• Strong communication, patient education, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
