Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents, treating each person with respect and dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding) to promote comfort and independence
• Monitor and record vital signs and report changes in condition to the nursing team promptly
• Support mobility and safe transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and resident observations
• Collaborate with RNs, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to support care plans and rehabilitation goals
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and uphold infection control and facility policies

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent required
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Comfort working with geriatric populations and assisting with ADLs
• Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
• Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings

Education

• Completion of an approved GNA or nursing assistant program; high school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic nursing assistant duties and geriatric care principles
• Skilled in safe resident handling, transfers, and fall prevention techniques
• Basic vital sign assessment and recognition of common geriatric changes
• Familiarity with documentation best practices and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to comfort residents and communicate with families
