Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities using evidence-based tools
- Develop individualized treatment plans to help patients reach meaningful communication and swallowing goals
- Provide skilled therapy and adapt interventions to meet each patient’s needs and progress
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and caregivers to coordinate holistic care
- Document evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and timely in the EHR
- Educate patients and caregivers on strategies to support communication and safe swallowing at home
Qualifications
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist in California (state licensure required for practice)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred but not always required — we welcome clinicians with strong clinical skills
- Experience in rehabilitation, skilled nursing, or outpatient settings is a plus
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning abilities with measurable outcomes
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; patient-centered and compassionate approach
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (MS/MA) or equivalent clinical degree
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in speech, language, cognitive-communication, and dysphagia assessment and intervention
- Familiarity with AAC strategies and adaptive communication tools
- Experience with clinical documentation and using electronic health records
- Ability to develop functional, evidence-based treatment plans and track outcomes
- Comfortable collaborating with PT/OT, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams
