Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, resident-centered care to older adults and support their dignity
• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting)
• Perform routine vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and timely in resident charts or electronic records
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Follow infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Communicate respectfully with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Participate in care planning and follow assigned care tasks to improve resident outcomes

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state-recognized nursing aide credential required
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Good communication skills and a caring, patient-first attitude
• Ability to pass required background checks and workplace health screenings
• Comfortable with physical aspects of the role (assisting with mobility, transferring residents)
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus but enthusiastic new graduates are welcome to apply

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent state-approved training

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of ADLs and basic geriatric care principles
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with basic infection control practices
• Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills for working with residents and staff
• Basic charting/documentation skills; electronic charting experience is a plus
• Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs in a busy setting
