Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor post-stroke and neuro-interventional patients with thoughtful, timely evaluations
• Perform cardiac monitoring and telemetry assessments; interpret rhythms and initiate appropriate escalation
• Perform EKGs accurately and document results in EPIC with attention to detail
• Deliver stroke and neuro stepdown care following protocols and best practices to optimize outcomes
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust patient care plans
• Document patient status, interventions, and responses in EPIC charting clearly and promptly
• Respond to changes in neurologic status and intervene or escalate per ACLS/NIHSS guidance
• Support unit goals and contribute to a positive, patient-centered environment

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure (Nursys verification listed) — able to practice as a registered nurse
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required for stroke assessment
• DCI/BVP certification listed as required
• Demonstrated EPIC charting experience
• Comfortable performing EKGs and cardiac/telemetry monitoring
• Able to float to similar units when needed and work collaboratively
• Must meet health and screening requirements: drug screen, TB test/PPD history, COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B and annual health clearances

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and neuro-focused exam skills
• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry knowledge with rhythm interpretation
• Stroke and neuro stepdown care practices and NIHSS proficiency
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting
• EKG performance and interpretation basics
• Familiarity with core competencies, specialty exams, and skills checklists
• Basic pharmacology knowledge relevant to acute neuro care
