Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess nutritional needs and develop individualized meal plans for incarcerated patients
• Implement therapeutic nutrition interventions and monitor progress
• Collaborate with medical staff and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care
• Provide nutrition education to patients and document care thoroughly and accurately
• Ensure compliance with facility policies and nutrition-related regulations and standards
• Participate in quality improvement and menu review activities to enhance patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required
• Eligibility for or possession of any required California state licensure/registration for dietitians
• Previous clinical or institutional experience preferred, ideally including menu planning and therapeutic diets
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Willingness to complete facility onboarding, background checks, and required trainings

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or a related field required; ACEND-accredited program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical nutrition assessment and care planning
• Therapeutic diet implementation and menu review
• Electronic health record documentation and professional reporting
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
• Patient education and counseling techniques
• Understanding of healthcare regulations and facility safety protocols
