Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough mental health and substance abuse assessments to inform individualized care
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for individuals in the substance abuse treatment setting
- Deliver individual and group therapy using proven modalities to support recovery
- Perform risk assessments and crisis intervention to maintain safety and stability
- Document clinical encounters clearly and timely to support continuity of care and compliance
- Collaborate with custody staff, medical providers, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate treatment
- Provide clinical consultation and participate in treatment team meetings to improve outcomes
- Support training and mentoring for junior clinicians or trainees during onboarding and beyond
Qualifications
- For Psychologist: Doctoral degree in Psychology and active California psychologist license (PSY)
- For LCSW: Master of Social Work and active California LCSW license
- Experience with mental health and substance abuse treatment, preferably in correctional or forensic settings
- Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with treatment planning
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility credentialing standards
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with diverse populations
Education
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (for Psychologist positions)
- Master of Social Work (MSW) (for LCSW positions)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in substance abuse treatment approaches and relapse prevention strategies
- Proficient with individual and group therapy techniques
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and evidence-based psychotherapies
- Strong assessment skills, including suicide and risk assessment
- Comfortable working within correctional facility policies and multidisciplinary teams
- Culturally responsive practice and strong professional boundaries
