Shift Type: Tuesday-Friday, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM (Day). Alternate schedule option during orientation: Tuesday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM. Day shift
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Design and lead meaningful recreational therapy programs tailored to individuals with mental health needs
- Assess patient strengths and goals, then create measurable treatment plans that support recovery
- Facilitate group and individual sessions that build social skills, coping strategies, and resilience
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate therapeutic activities into overall care
- Document progress clearly and professionally to support continuity of care and outcomes tracking
- Maintain safety, therapeutic boundaries, and a respectful environment for all participants
- Adapt activities to meet varying abilities and behavioral needs within a correctional mental health setting
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in Recreational Therapy and working with mental health populations (matches core skills)
- Preferred: Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or equivalent certification
- Experience or comfort working in a correctional or secure facility is a strong plus
- Strong group facilitation skills and experience developing individualized treatment plans
- Able to complete required facility background checks and screenings
Education
- Degree in Recreational Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or related human services field preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in activity planning, group facilitation, and behavior management
- Knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and mental health interventions
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical teams and correctional staff
- Flexibility, reliability, and professional boundary-setting in challenging environments
