Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy services as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to veterans residing at the Montana Veterans Home
- Implement treatment plans and meaningful therapeutic activities that improve daily living skills and independence
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient-centered care plans
- Document patient progress accurately and timely in the facility charting system
- Educate residents, families, and staff on adaptive strategies, assistive devices, and safety techniques
- Support discharge planning and continuity of care with clear communication and recommendations
Qualifications
- Current COTA certification and active state licensure or ability to obtain Montana licensure
- Experience working in geriatric, long-term care, or skilled nursing settings preferred
- Strong clinical reasoning and ability to implement evidence-based interventions
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility credentialing requirements
- Excellent communication skills and a team-first attitude
Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or equivalent
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment, activities of daily living (ADL) training, and mobility techniques
- Skilled in documentation and clinical charting for long-term care populations
- Ability to assess functional status and recommend appropriate therapeutic interventions
- Comfort working with older adults and veterans with complex medical histories
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage caseload and documentation
