Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Day shifts, 40 hours/week (either four 10-hour day shifts or five 8-hour day shifts; start and end times negotiable). Approximately every 5th weekend is an on-call weekend (split between Call 1 and Call 2) and 1-2 on-call shifts per week. All on-call requires a 30-minute response time. Possible holiday call rotation.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative support during general, orthopedic, neurosurgery, and vascular procedures
• Prepare, organize, and maintain sterile fields and surgical instrumentation with meticulous attention to detail
• Assist surgeons throughout cases, anticipating needs and ensuring smooth case flow
• Manage central processing and instrumentation tasks to uphold safety and instrument readiness
• Respond to on-call notifications and arrive on site within a 30-minute response window
• Contribute to patient safety and quality improvement initiatives in the OR
• Communicate clearly and professionally with surgeons, nurses, and support staff to deliver excellent patient care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (required)
• BLS certification required
• CST certification preferred but not required
• Demonstrated, current breadth of experience across orthopedics, neurosurgery, vascular, and general OR cases
• Ability to work 40 hours per week in the agreed-upon schedule (four 10-hour or five 8-hour shifts)
• On-call availability with the ability to respond within 30 minutes
• Minimal RTO preferred (candidates with minimal RTO will receive priority consideration)
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program

Knowledge & Skills

• Operating Room procedures and sterile technique
• Instrument identification, handling, and central processing knowledge
• Experience in orthopedic, neurosurgery, and vascular surgery instrumentation and workflows
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt in a fast-paced OR environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• BLS-required lifesaving skills
• CST-level competencies a plus
