Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the NICU team during your shift, coordinating patient assignments and clinical priorities
• Provide high-quality neonatal nursing care and timely clinical assessments
• Oversee unit operations during your assignment, ensuring safe staffing and resource allocation
• Mentor and coach staff nurses, fostering professional growth and strong teamwork
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement family-centered care plans
• Ensure compliance with required competency exams, skills checklists, and licensing verification
• Manage critical situations with calm, evidence-based interventions and clear communication
• Maintain accurate documentation and handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (state licensure required)
• Demonstrated NICU experience and prior leadership/charge nurse experience (must have)
• BLS certification required
• DCI/BVP certification required
• Completion of Prime Core Competencies Exam, Prime Skills Checklist, and Prime Specialty Exam as part of onboarding
• Successful license/certificate verification and ability to meet required screening
• Up-to-date immunizations and health requirements (COVID-19 vaccine, MMR, TB, Varicella, Tdap, Hepatitis B, Influenza)
• Ability to work variable and rotating shifts in a fast-paced neonatal environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in neonatal critical care and neonatal assessment
• Charge nurse leadership: staffing, prioritization, and unit coordination
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Infection control and adherence to unit policies and procedures
• Competency with specialty neonatal equipment and monitoring
• Ability to complete required competency exams and documentation accurately
• Patient- and family-centered care approach with excellent bedside manner
