Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care for patients of all ages in both inpatient and outpatient settings
• Perform therapeutic respiratory care procedures, including ventilator management for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
• Operate and manage BiPAP/CPAP and other noninvasive ventilation modalities
• Administer and interpret EKGs, pulmonary function tests (PFTs), and cardiac stress tests
• Assess patients, interpret basic cardiac arrhythmias, and contribute to treatment planning with the care team
• Attend in-service training and continuing education to maintain and enhance clinical skills
• Document patient care accurately and communicate changes to the Respiratory Director and Medical Director
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergent respiratory needs when assigned

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the State of Maine
• NBRC certification as a CRT or RRT (or eligible to sit for the RRT exam within one year of start)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• At least 2 years of clinical respiratory experience preferred; new graduates considered
• Demonstrated ability to perform adult, pediatric, and neonatal mechanical ventilation and noninvasive ventilation

Education

• Graduate of a Commission on Respiratory Care Education (CoARC) accredited school for Respiratory Care (CRT or RRT credential recognized by NBRC)

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation (adult, pediatric, neonate)
• BiPAP/CPAP management
• Pulmonary function testing (PFTs) and EKG performance
• Cardiac stress testing and basic arrhythmia interpretation
• Strong patient assessment and treatment planning skills
• Extensive knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
