Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional, evidence-based care to critically ill neonates in our Level 4 NICU
• Manage complex cases including premature infants, cardiac defects, genetic disorders, surgical patients, and ECMO/cooling therapies
• Perform Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strict sterile technique
• Collaborate with a dedicated team of neonatologists, midlevels, RTs, and pharmacists available 24/7
• Serve as a patient advocate and educate families on their baby's condition and care plan
• Float to Mother Baby and Labor Care to care for babies as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of Level 4 NICU experience required (busy Level 3 considered with screening)
• Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• Cardiac STABLE certificate required
• Proficiency in Cerner EMR
• Must live 50+ miles from the facility (DL used as proof of residency)

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile field technique for central line dressing changes and Foley insertion
• Skilled in caring for patients on ventilators (RT manages vents) and telemetry (Phillips system)
• Ability to maintain a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio in ICU and 1:3 in Level 2 stepdown
• Comfortable with pass/fail SIMs Lab evaluation on day one
• Strong teamwork and communication skills to work with a high-risk RN resource and charge nurse
