Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering skilled rehabilitation services to adult and geriatric patients
• Implement individualized treatment plans as directed, focusing on mobility, strength, and functional independence
• Provide gait training, transfer assistance, and supervised therapeutic exercises to promote recovery
• Document patient progress accurately and communicate changes to the supervising PT and interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety, and fall prevention strategies
• Maintain therapy equipment, treatment areas, and ensure a safe environment for patients

Qualifications

• Current or compact-eligible Physical Therapist Assistant license for New Jersey (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Completion of an accredited PTA program and active certification where required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification required or obtain upon hire
• Reliable clinical experience in outpatient/rehab or post-acute settings preferred
• Up-to-date immunizations and ability to pass background and TB screening
• Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, and patient-centered approach

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on experience with gait training, transfers, and therapeutic exercise progressions
• Familiarity with modalities commonly used in rehab (heat/ice, electrical stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound)
• Proficient documentation skills and comfort using electronic health records
• Excellent patient education, motivational, and interpersonal skills
• Time management and ability to prioritize a caseload effectively
