Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist licensed Physical Therapists in evaluating and treating patients through guided therapeutic interventions
• Deliver hands-on care including therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility practice
• Monitor patient progress and communicate changes to the treating Physical Therapist to ensure safe, effective care
• Provide clear, compassionate patient and caregiver education to support home programs and recovery goals
• Document treatments and outcomes accurately in the patient record to maintain high-quality continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate individualized care plans and discharge goals

Qualifications

• Current PTA license or certification eligible in the state of Maine (or ability to obtain before start)
• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• CPR/BLS certification (current) or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Prior experience as a PTA preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills are encouraged to apply
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage patients of all ages and abilities
• Ability to perform physical tasks typical of PTA roles (assisting transfers, standing for treatments, safe patient handling)

Education

• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate degree or PTA certificate)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on therapeutic techniques, gait training, and mobility assistance
• Basic knowledge of therapeutic modalities and exercise prescription
• Comfortable with patient education and home exercise program instruction
• Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic health records
• Teamwork, time management, and strong observational skills to track patient progress
• Empathy and patient-centered communication to build rapport and motivate recovery
