Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patient outcomes and adjust the respiratory plan of care within the multidisciplinary team
• Provide clear explanations and instructions to patients and families about respiratory disease processes and interventions
• Deliver physician-ordered respiratory care while maintaining communication with medical and nursing staff
• Plan, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of respiratory therapies and treatments
• Accept reassignment to other units when necessary to support patient care
• Share clinical knowledge with staff and students and serve as a role model for clinical practice
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond professionally when contacted

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - required
• Valid Illinois Respiratory License - required
• BLS certification - required
• NRP-MHC certification - required
• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care (or equivalent) - required
• Comfort with unit reassignment and participating in on-call duties

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care (required)
