Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate orthopedic nursing care to pre-op and post-op patients
• Monitor patient status and respond to changes in condition with swift, evidence-based interventions
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, physical therapists, and the care team to coordinate surgical and recovery plans
• Educate patients and families on procedures, postoperative care, mobility, and pain management to support safe recoveries
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in the electronic health record
• Maintain sterile technique and support OR and perioperative protocols when needed
• Contribute to discharge planning and transitional care to reduce readmissions and improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or eligibility via compact licensure
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience (as listed in the job posting)
• Experience or strong interest in orthopedic surgery nursing is preferred
• Current BLS certification required; Advanced certifications such as ACLS or orthopedics-related certifications are a plus
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical specialty environment

Knowledge & Skills

• Postoperative orthopedic care and pain management strategies
• Wound care, drain management, and mobility support for orthopedic patients
• Familiarity with perioperative and surgical unit workflows
• Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Patient and family education techniques to support recovery and discharge
