Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to intermediate acuity patients in the PCU
• Perform thorough patient assessments and develop/implement individualized nursing plans
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and hemodynamic data to support timely interventions
• Administer medications and IV therapies safely and accurately, following protocols
• Collaborate closely with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and families to coordinate care
• Document patient care, assessments and interventions clearly and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and discharge planning to promote positive outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (able to practice in the assignment state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (PCU, step-down, telemetry or related acute care experience preferred)
• Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain promptly)
• Strong clinical judgment, prioritization and time-management skills
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced unit with intermediate acuity patients

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of cardiac telemetry and monitoring
• Proficiency with IV therapy, medication administration and infusion pumps
• Excellent patient assessment and critical thinking abilities
• Effective communication and teamwork skills with multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with electronic health record documentation and order entry
