Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care for step-down/SDU patients
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor telemetry and hemodynamics
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document care accurately
• Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Respond quickly and effectively to patient changes and emergency situations
• Assist with transfers, admissions, and discharges to keep flow moving smoothly
• Support unit needs by floating to other areas as required, sharing your expertise
• Mentor and support colleagues with a positive, team-first approach

Qualifications

• Active RN license in California (required) — ready to practice in-state
• Experience working in a Step-Down Unit (SDU) or similar acute care setting
• Strong telemetry and patient monitoring experience
• Current BLS required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Demonstrated ability to float to other units and adapt to changing patient needs
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, Diploma, or BSN)
• BSN preferred but all accredited RN programs will be considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• IV medication administration and titration knowledge
• Patient assessment, acuity recognition, and escalation
• Electronic medical record documentation proficiency
• Time management and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and support unit flow
