Location: Silverdale, WA
Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Day); Friday-Sunday: 24-hour call coverage, 6:00 AM - 6:00 AM (On-call/Rotating). Note: 1 night call per week (begins after shift ends) and 1 weekend per month; call ends at 6:00 AM the following day.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality cardiac anesthesia care for scheduled CABG, mitral and aortic valve procedures, TAVR, LAAC, maze procedures and atrial fibrillation ablations.
- Perform transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) intraoperatively — TEE experience or certification is required.
- Manage perioperative anesthetic plans in the cardiac OR, EP lab, and structural interventional lab settings.
- Provide safe 24-hour on-call coverage during assigned call blocks and respond promptly to patient care needs.
- Collaborate with surgeons, interventionalists, and the perioperative team to optimize patient outcomes.
- Document care accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure seamless handoffs and continuity.
Qualifications
- Physician (MD or DO) with active credentials appropriate for anesthesia practice
- Demonstrated experience in Cardiac Anesthesiology and comfort with high-acuity cardiac procedures (CABG, MV, AV, TAVR, LAAC, maze, AF ablation).
- Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) experience or certification — required.
- Experience using Epic EMR — required.
- Willingness to complete credentialing process (preapplication and full application) within standard 90-day timeframe.
- Comfort working as a locum in a focused cardiac role (note: locum will not supervise CRNAs and will not assume general cases if no cardiac cases are present).
Education
- MD or DO (Physician) with anesthesiology training; cardiac anesthesia fellowship or focused cardiac anesthesia experience preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Advanced intraoperative cardiac physiology and anesthetic management
- Proficiency in TEE image acquisition and interpretation in the operative setting
- Familiarity with cardiac OR workflows, EP labs, and structural interventional procedures
- Strong crisis resource management and communication skills with surgical and interventional teams
- Ability to document clearly in Epic and navigate electronic perioperative records
- Comfort managing 24-hour call responsibilities and transitions of care
