Shift Type: Day shift, 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM (schedule set by OR supervisor); Day shift with on-call responsibilities — approximately 6-7 call shifts per month and 2-3 weekends per 13-week contract

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms and instrumentation to support smooth, efficient cases
• Assist surgeons during procedures including total joints, robotics, general laparoscopy, urology, hand and foot, and breast reconstruction
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure patient safety throughout perioperative care
• Operate and troubleshoot surgical instrumentation and robotic setups as needed
• Document care accurately in EPIC and communicate effectively with the surgical team
• Respond to on-call requests and be flexible to cover weekend and holiday needs
• Contribute to a positive team environment by staying fast, efficient, and detail oriented
• Adhere to facility policies including infection control and dress/nail standards

Qualifications

• BLS certification required at time of submission
• CST certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of surgical technologist experience
• Demonstrated ability with total joint cases, robotics, general laparoscopic procedures, urology, hand/foot cases, and breast reconstruction
• Driver's license required at submittal to confirm compliance with radius rule
• Willingness to take call and adapt shifts on short notice
• Not currently full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility within a 50-mile radius

Education

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program preferred
• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven sterile technique and perioperative care practices
• Strong familiarity with surgical instrumentation and room setup
• Experience with EPIC charting system
• Comfort supporting robotic-assisted cases and total joint procedures
• Skillset spanning ortho, general, OBGYN, plastics, ENT, urology, hand, podiatry and pediatric cases
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and ability to work efficiently under pressure
