Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' respiratory status and tailor care plans to their needs
• Administer oxygen, aerosolized medications, and airway therapies safely
• Monitor and document patient response, adjusting treatments as needed
• Assist with ventilator management and participate in weaning protocols
• Educate patients and families on respiratory techniques and home care
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure reliability
• Collaborate closely with nurses, physicians, and rehab teams for cohesive care
• Participate in and help lead orientation activities for new staff

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in Washington or ability to obtain
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential preferred
• Current BLS required; ACLS or PALS certification preferred when applicable
• Comfortable with ventilator management, airway equipment, and ABG interpretation
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
• Clinical experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred

Education

• Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related allied health field required
• Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and respiratory treatment planning
• Mechanical ventilation fundamentals and weaning strategies
• Oxygen therapy modalities and aerosolized medication delivery
• Airway management and suctioning techniques
• Charting and documentation in electronic medical records
• Infection prevention and equipment maintenance best practices
• Effective interdisciplinary communication and patient education
