Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care in the Step-Down Unit
• Continuously assess patients and respond to changes in condition with clinical judgment
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Monitor cardiac and hemodynamic status using telemetry and other monitoring tools
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and implement care plans
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, and discharge plans to support recovery
• Document care clearly and timely in the patient record to ensure continuity and quality

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS preferred
• Prior experience in a Step-Down Unit, telemetry, or progressive care setting preferred
• Comfort and competence with cardiac monitoring and acute care interventions
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
• Willingness to work 12.5-hour shifts as outlined in the posting

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in patient assessment and early recognition of clinical deterioration
• Experience with telemetry/cardiac monitoring and post-ICU care
• Skilled in IV therapy, medication administration, and acute care procedures
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and clear clinical documentation
