Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit
• Assess and monitor patients continuously, recognizing and responding to changes in condition
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate plans of care
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
• Document patient status and interventions clearly and timely in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or compact RN licensure as applicable
• Previous experience in SDU, step-down, telemetry, or critical care preferred
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred or may be required by facility
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring familiarity
• Proficient with IV medication administration and infusion pumps
• Skilled in patient assessment and identifying subtle changes in condition
• Effective communication with patients, families, and clinical teams
• Comfortable using electronic health records and clinical documentation systems
