Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care to pediatric patients
• Perform thorough pre-op assessments and prepare children and families for procedures
• Communicate effectively with families to explain processes and alleviate concerns
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and the perioperative team
• Administer medications and assist with necessary pre-op interventions
• Document patient status and interventions accurately in the medical record
• Support safe handoffs and clear communication during the perioperative period

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Ohio) — required
• Experience or interest in pediatric nursing and pre-operative care
• Current BLS required; PALS preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfort working with children and their families in a surgical setting
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Willingness to complete required orientation and facility onboarding

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Pre-operative assessment and pediatric-focused nursing care
• Family-centered communication and pediatric patient comfort techniques
• Basic medication administration and IV/line familiarity
• Accurate electronic health record documentation
• Infection control and perioperative safety practices
• Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced surgical setting
